Integrative Pulmonary Care at Helios

Starting this month, Helios Integrated Medicine and Integrative Pulmonary Clinic (IPC) will partner to offer integrative pulmonary care at Helios’ offices in Boulder, Colorado. This collaboration expands access to comprehensive pulmonary care that combines evidence-based pulmonary and integrative medicine approaches.

Welcome Dr. Amen Sergew!

IPC’s founder and lead physician, Dr. Amen Sergew, is a pulmonary and critical care physician who came to Denver in 2006 to complete fellowship training at the University of Colorado. She spent many years at National Jewish Health, where she helped establish the Chronic Respiratory Failure Clinic and served as Director of Outpatient Education.

Holistic, Evidence-Based Care

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Dr. Sergew cared for critically ill patients across the country, an experience that reinforced the importance of treating patients as whole people, not simply diagnoses. She enrolled in fellowship training through the University of Arizona Andrew Weil Center for Integrative Medicine, studying evidence-based approaches including breathing practices, mindfulness, nutrition, sleep optimization, and stress regulation.

She founded IPC to create a more patient-centered model that combines pulmonary medicine with integrative care while allowing more time and accessibility for patients. The clinic sees patients with sleep concerns, asthma, COPD, neurological conditions, long COVID, and other complex pulmonary disorders.
