Thyroid Conditions
Functional Medicine in Boulder, CO
Your thyroid affects nearly everything. We're here to look at the whole picture.
Your thyroid is one of the most influential glands in your body. It is responsible for regulating metabolism, energy, body temperature, mood, hair, weight, and more. Yet conventional thyroid care is often limited to a single lab value: TSH. If your number falls within the standard reference range but you still feel exhausted, foggy, cold, or like a version of yourself you don't recognize, you're not imagining it. Many patients come to us after years of being told their thyroid is "fine". And we know how demoralizing that word can feel.
Thyroid Health at Helios
At Helios, we take a more thorough approach. Our functional medicine evaluation looks beyond TSH to include free T3, free T4, reverse T3, and thyroid antibodies (TPO and TgAb) These are markers that reveal whether your thyroid is converting hormones properly, whether autoimmune processes like Hashimoto's thyroiditis are at play, and whether the problem is in the thyroid itself or in how the rest of your body is responding to its signals.
We also look upstream at nutrient deficiencies (selenium, iodine, zinc, iron), gut health, adrenal function, and environmental exposures that are known to disrupt thyroid activity.
Treatment Plans & Outcomes
Our goal is not simply to normalize your labs. It is to help you feel well. We use individualized treatment plans that may include dietary changes, targeted supplementation, prescription thyroid medications (including T3/T4 combination therapy when appropriate), and ongoing monitoring. Whether you're newly diagnosed, questioning a diagnosis, or managing Hashimoto's or Graves' disease, we partner with you to build a plan that fits your life.
“Their attention to detail and commitment to quality truly stood out. We’ve already recommended them to others.”
