Thyroid Conditions

Your thyroid is one of the most influential glands in your body. It is responsible for regulating metabolism, energy, body temperature, mood, hair, weight, and more. Yet conventional thyroid care is often limited to a single lab value: TSH. If your number falls within the standard reference range but you still feel exhausted, foggy, cold, or like a version of yourself you don't recognize, you're not imagining it. Many patients come to us after years of being told their thyroid is "fine". And we know how demoralizing that word can feel.

At Helios, we take a more thorough approach. Our functional medicine evaluation looks beyond TSH to include free T3, free T4, reverse T3, and thyroid antibodies (TPO and TgAb) These are markers that reveal whether your thyroid is converting hormones properly, whether autoimmune processes, Hashimoto's, thyroiditis, or,  whether the problem is dysfunction between the brain’s communication to the thyroid. We also look upstream at nutrient deficiencies (selenium, iodine, zinc, iron), gut health, adrenal function, autoimmune triggers and environmental exposures that are known to disrupt thyroid activity.
